Tupac Shakur was born under the name Lesane Parish Crooks June 16, 1971 in Brooklyn, New York. Even as a child his mother knew he was going to do great things, an example from this is his name Tupac which means "shining sherpant" in the Incan language and Shakur meaning "thankful to God" in Arabic. Tupac has always grew up trying to change and lives better for African Americans, his parents were both members of the Black Panthers.
As a child he was called the Black Prince because he always misbehaved. When he was about two his father had to leave for prison for an armored car robbery. This left to hardships for his family making him move from place to place thus making him feel lonely. HIs father started to torment him, thus making him feel unmanly. The loneliness brought him to start writing love songs and poetry.
Although he's one of the greatest artists that ever lived, Tupac wanted to be an actor, in his words it took nothing to get out of who he is and into somebody else. His mother saw that he wanted to achieve his dreams and signed him up to the 127th street ensamble which is a theatre group in Harlem, New York. He played the role of Travis in A Raisin In The Sun. To him that was the best high in the world because in his mind he knew that this is what he can do, that his cousins can't.
At the age of 15 Tupac has started to grow into his love for rap. He started writing lyrics, tried to act tough and called himself MC New York. He then enrolled himself into the Baltimore School for the Arts, where he studied acting and ballet. During his studies here he encountered some of the first white kids he has ever got along with.
Due to hardships, Tupac had to move to California. This is when law enforcement started to harras Tupac, especially for playing loud music. Shakur then started to sell drugs. This led him to meeting Ray Luv and DJ Dize, whom helped inspire his love for music. They came up with a group called Strictly Dope, however their music wasn't released until 2001 with a CD called Tupac Shakur: The Lost Tapes.
In 1990 Tupac Shakur joined up to become a dancer for Humpty-Hump and Digital Underground. Then Finally in 1992 Tupac broke free from Digital Underground and released his solo album 2pacalypse Now. He also starred in Juice, which was a movie about 4 teens living in the hood trying to get "the juice".About a year after the movie was released, Tupac released another album called Strictly for my N.I.G.G.A.Z, and a movie with Janet Jackson called Poetic Justice. In 1994 Tupac then went to visit then friend Chrisopher Wallace A.K.A. The Notorious B.I.G. and was shot 5 times. Shakur thought this was a setup and this was the start of the infamous West coast East coast rivalry, with songs produced such as hit em up.
Then in 1996 which was the peak of Tupac's career with the release of All Eyez On Me, Tupac was shot after A Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon fight at MGM. The murders are still unknown with suspicion of Suge Knight, Orlando Anderson (a gang member which Tupac had a fight with earlier in the day), Members of Bad Boy records of being the killers. There is also suspicion that Tupac is still alive.
So who killed Tupac?
The world may never know.
But what we do know is that thanks to Tupac Shakur Gangsta Rap is grown and shown that black people can be respected figures in society, and a role model to all.
